A Community Called Grace

What is A Community Called Grace?

A Community Called Grace is a faith community for young(ish)* adults in the Bemidji area.
*when we say young(ish) we mean CCG is led by folks in their 20s - 40s... and is being formed with gen x, millennials and gen z folks in mind!  We're building this community for anyone who is feeling open to exploring something new! We're not sticklers about age - if you're young at heart, welcome!!

We're Lutheran Christian in origin (and leadership) but you do not need to believe what we do to join us for any gatherings.

We're an open and queer affirming/queer led faith community made up of folks who've experienced trauma in the church, folks who are curious about creating something new outside of the church and folks who want to explore Christianity with other people who are ok with doubt, questions and creativity.

We want to build a welcoming, inclusive, progressive community in which to explore faith and spirituality. If that is you too - come! We trust the Spirit will lead us into deeper conversations, more authentic relationships and connection to the One who created us and calls us beloved.

Get to Know Us in Our Welcome Statement!

A Community Called Grace is a Reconciling in Christ community. This means that we have made a public commitment to:

  • Clearly welcome people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions and name our commitment to anti-racism in our welcome statement.
  • Be open to calling LGBTQIA2S+ and BIPOC folks as pastors for our community.
  • Allow our community gathering space to be used for LGBTQIA2S+ weddings and blessings.
  • Make a yearly financial gift to support the work of the Reconciling in Christ program on a national level.

Since 1983, the Reconciling in Christ (RIC) Program has been a public way for faith communities to see, name, celebrate, and advocate for people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions in the Lutheran church. You can learn more at reconcilingworks.org.

Faith & Spirituality in Community.

Once a Month Gathering @ 5pm, Meet at Diamond Point Park, Sapphire Pavilion!

Upcoming: July 14 / August 11

Each gathering will look a little bit different - we'll spend an hour or so together exploring bible and book studies, worship, spiritual practices, art, meditation and prayer. Occasionally we'll invite folks to teach us about what they know best. Sometimes we'll just drink good coffee and talk.

We know that community is what we're seeking and that's what we want to build.

Come exactly as you are.
You. Belong.

Monthly Bible Study - Designed for the Curious, No Bible Experience Necessary!

Join us on Zoom for our monthly bible study! Once a month on a Wednesday we'll get together for some time to be curious, ask questions, read the word of God and dig into why it matters today!

This study is LGBTQIA2S+ affirming. We begin with the belief that all people are beloved of God, exactly as they were created.

Topics will vary - Zoom link will be sent out the day of the study!

Wednesday, July 31 @ 6pm

Our focus will be exclusively on reading work by BIPOC, 2SLGBTQIAP+ and Women/Femme authors who write about faith & spirituality.

How it Works:

2. Join us to talk about it!
